Seeing a place on the big screen does wonders for our wanderlust, but nothing beats seeing it in real life. 2026 is shaping up to be another bumper year for set-jetting, especially here in the UK. From classic literary adaptations rooted in rural England to ancient epics filmed along sunny Mediterranean coasts, these are the films and television series inspiring where we’ll go next – and the i-escape hotels that let you step straight into the scene.
1 Wuthering Heights – Yorebridge House, Yorkshire
This latest adaptation of literary classic Wuthering Heights places the Yorkshire landscape front and centre. Filming took place across the Dales and the moorland around Haworth, where Emily Brontë lived and set her novel. We’re expecting sweeping shots of Margot Robbie (Catherine) and Jacob Elordi (Heathcliff) on the paths above Top Withens (the ruined farmhouse long associated with the Heights), and in the stark uplands of Penistone Hill Country Park. Set-jetters can follow the Brontë Way, explore Haworth’s cobbled Main Street, and walk out onto the moors that shaped the story’s emotional intensity. Yorebridge House, tucked beside the River Ure, makes an ideal base for this journey – close enough to roam these dramatic filming locations by day, yet offering comfort and refinement when you return from the wild.
2 Hamnet – Wye Valley Hideaways, Wales
The UK is having a moment, with another big release putting our home turf in the spotlight this year. Hamnet is rooted in the Tudor landscapes of Shakespeare’s England, and has already been tipped as a critics’ favourite. But instead of being shot in Shakespeare’s hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon, most of the filming took place in the Welsh Borders. The Herefordshire village of Weobley doubles up as Stratford, with its half-timbered houses resembling 16th-century Britain, and its church featuring in the wedding scene. It’s possible to stay just 20 minutes down the road from here, at Wye Valley Hideaways, where spacious, stylish cottages offer privacy among idyllic Welsh Borders countryside.
3 The Odyssey – BanSala, Peloponnese
Homer’s epic takes to the big screen this summer in a lavish new adaptation from Christopher Nolan. Much of the film was shot along the rugged coastlines of the Messenia region in the Peloponnese, leaning heavily on raw, elemental landscapes. Locations include the formidable walls of Methoni Castle, the perfectly curved sands of Voidokilia Beach near Pylos, and Nestor’s Cave, long linked to Homeric legend. Bansala is a soulful, slow-living hideaway about 30 minutes away from these sights, where days revolve around sea air, simple pleasures and sunsets worthy of a legend.
4 Jay Kelly – La Bandita Townhouse, Tuscany
Filmed across the heart of Tuscany, George Clooney’s new Netflix comedy, Jay Kelly, showcases the unmistakable landscapes of the Val d’Orcia, with scenes shot in and around Pienza, Montepulciano and the surrounding hill towns. The film lingers on sun-warmed piazzas, Renaissance architecture and the rolling countryside threaded with cypress-lined roads that have become synonymous with the region. La Bandita Townhouse sits right in Pienza’s historic centre, placing you steps from filming locations and within easy reach of nearby towns that feature on screen. Spend your days wandering the same streets as swoony Clooney, then return to a hotel that feels perfectly attuned to modern Tuscany.
5 The Devil Wears Prada 2 – The Greenwich Hotel, New York
Fashion’s most fearsome editor is back, and with her comes a fresh dose of New York glamour. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is expected to showcase Manhattan at its most stylish, from glossy Fifth Avenue to chic downtown neighbourhoods like Soho and Tribeca. It’s here that you’ll find The Greenwich Hotel, owned and crafted by movie-star royalty Robert De Niro. Discreet, luxurious and quietly cool, it’s the ideal place to tap into the city’s creative energy, and its downtown location feels worlds away from touristy Midtown.
6 Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job – The Rou Estate, Crete
Who doesn’t love a bit of feel-good telly, especially when it’s set on a Greek island? The latest series of Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job centres on the renovation of a traditional stone house in the hills of Corfu, near the village of Rou. Filming highlights the island’s rural interior, a picturesque scene of olive groves, mountain views, winding lanes and timeworn villages. The Rou Estate places you in the very same landscape, offering a family-friendly base in an architect-restored hamlet surrounded by nature. It’s an authentic stay that mirrors the warmth and simplicity of the show. Expect slow mornings, local food and a deep sense of place.
7 Emily in Paris season 5 – Casacau, Rome
The latest series of Emily in Paris shifts the spotlight from Parisian chic to Italian glamour, with Emily heading to Rome to run a new office in the stylish Italian capital. Filming takes place in Rome’s (and Venice’s) most iconic settings: the Spanish Steps, café-lined Piazza Navona, the elegant streets of Trastevere and along the Tiber, with glossy fashion moments framed by Renaissance palazzi and golden-hour rooftops. There are also glimpses of quieter neighbourhoods beyond the tourist trail, where local life, aperitivo culture and boutique shopping come together. To live it up like Emily, Casacau makes a fashionable base. This calm, design-led retreat is within easy reach of the city’s key filming locations, offering stylish apartment-style living a coin’s throw from the Trevi Fountain.
