Greece is one of our favourite destinations for families. There are wonderful beaches, stunning cerulean seas, so many gorgeous islands to choose from, and lots of friendly locals. But when it comes to choosing where to stay, the options can be plentiful and a little daunting.

Here is our handpicked list of top picks for Greek hotels and rentals that offer families a little something extra – from dedicated kids pools to fun family activities and more.

1 Bella Mare Hotel, Corfu

This beachfront retreat is as close to perfection as you can hope for. Found on a long crescent-shaped beach in the Northeast of Corfu, Bella Mare has a huge swimming pool and a dedicated kids pool set in verdant grounds. For active kids, they offer watersports, table tennis and boat trips. Plus, there’s a fun weekly activity schedule in the summer holidays with pool games, scavenger hunts and movies.

3 GK Beach Hotel, nr Chania, Crete

GK Beach Hotel ticks plenty of boxes for families looking for a relaxed break. It’s affordable, has delightful staff, and is tucked back on a sandy beach framed by mountains, just a 30-minute drive from Chania airport. (Crete is arguably one of the best Greek islands for families.) There’s plenty to keep kids of all ages entertained with gardens to romp around, an 18m main pool plus a dedicated one for children, and a nearby waterpark. During the summer holidays they run a Beach Life programme with arts and crafts, pottery, table tennis and circus skills. It also has its own taverna with a great kids menu.

An intimate kids-focused resort just 5-minutes from Lefkada Town, Mousses Villas is a wonderland for families. It has shady gardens, a huge gated pool, an all-day restaurant and bar, and plenty of parent-pampering with massages and date nights. There’s also an excellent creche (from 6 mo, staffed by experienced nannies) and a kids club with varied activities (for up to 11yo) Monday-Friday. A small well-run family-friendly hotel set on its own private dark sand beach, Alas Resort & Spa has a peaceful setting, restaurant and bar (with a kids menu and special mealtimes if required), fully equipped spa and great staff. It’s also an easy walk to the local village for additional eateries. The swimming pontoon is a big hit, and with a big freshwater pool, snorkelling in crystal clear waters, and plenty of other beaches nearby, it’s a great spot for water babies.

On a pine-covered headland on the island’s south-west, this spectacular resort has wraparound sea views and beautiful beaches. Elivi Skiathos is understated yet hip, with fabulous restaurants, sweeping terraces, tennis courts and a full spa. There are also two main pools with lifeguards (some suites even have private pools) and a daily kids club with an activity-based programme including aqua aerobics and sports; basketball and watersports. Older teens will love it here too, with Skiathos Town just a 20-minute walk away.

My Little Place on the Hill is a long-standing favourite amongst families. A wonderfully affordable hideaway, its modern and minimalistic self-catering suites are tucked away in an unspoiled, quiet village in the south of the island. But don’t be fooled, along with inland views stretching to green mountains and a relaxed rustic style, this isn’t your average village guesthouse.
