We’re always on the hunt for gorgeous family-friendly places to join our pioneering Kids Collection – hotels and rentals with style and kid-friendly service.
In 2025 we welcomed a whole host of heavenly hideaways into the i-escape portfolio, read on for a selection of our favourites for family stays.
A welcoming country house hotel right on the shores of tranquil Ullswater with an indoor swimming pool, and a host of fun activities from watersports to ice skating.
Rooms: There are family suites (with bunks) and family shepherds huts to choose from, extra beds and baby cots are available too.
Best for: All ages.
Family rating: There’s a year-round kids club, children’s zone, playground, games room and a forest school. There are kids menus in both restaurants plus pizzas in the glass house.
2 Korsan Suites, Kalkan, Turkey
This well-priced boutique apart-hotel with a swimming pool is set on a hillside with breathtaking views over Kalkan’s beautiful bay, just above the old town.
Rooms: Each sleek and spacious apartment has two storeys so the family can spread out, and comes with a private terrace and Jacuzzi. There are both two and three-bed options.
Best for: Babies, kids and teens.
Family rating: There’s a good selection of baby gear to borrow, teens will love being able to wander into town and hit the beach clubs, all will enjoy boat trips along the coast.
3 Chateau du Parc Pezenas, Languedoc, France
In sun-drenched southern France sits this glorious chateau turned chic eco-retreat with a big swimming pool, designer gites and 70 hectares of ancient trees.
Rooms: The self-catering suites and apartments come in a range of sizes up to 4 bedrooms, all have good kitchens and the larger ones have private Jacuzzis.
Best for: All ages.
Family rating: There’s baby gear to borrow, pétanque and table tennis, electric mountain bikes to borrow and a playground. It’s 20 minutes to the Mediterranean coast.
4 FeelViana Sport Hotel, Viana do Castelo, N.Portugal
An activity and wellness retreat, just a 5-minute walk from unspoilt sweeping Atlantic beaches in the north of Portugal, with indoor and outdoor pools and a sports centre.
Rooms: Bungalows and Master Suites work well for families of four.
Best for: Kids and teens.
Family rating: Ideal for active families, there’s a creative kids club (4-12), water sports lessons, a pump track for biking and skateboarding, and kids meals in the on-site restaurant.
5 Casas Almoros, Costa Blanca, Spain
This trio of toddler-friendly self-catering cottages with shared swimming pool and shaded playground is set in a peaceful rural area, inland from sandy beaches.
Rooms: All three cottages are fantastic for young families, two have three bedrooms, the third has two, and all have a well-stocked twin room (Little Explorer Rooms) for kids as well as a dedicated playspace.
Best for: Babies, toddlers and kids.
Family rating: There’s all the baby and toddler kit you could want from blackout blinds to bed guards, a recreation room with pool table, sandpit and trampoline, a separate toddler area in the pool, organised activities and three home-cooked meals a week included.
Play should always look this good! Just outside surf mecca Newquay, this art deco-styled apart-hotel has fresh interiors, dazzling sea views and both cafe and restaurant as well as a 24/7 larder.
Rooms: The 2- or 3-bedroom Apartments are ideal, and a family of 3-4 can stay comfortably in a Large Studio – all of these come with bunk rooms for the kids. Some have sea views too.
Best for: All ages.
Family rating: The 18m indoor pool, the adventure playground and maze, padel courts, well-stocked games room, board hire and beaches make up this box of delights for kids.
7 The Hallstatt Villa, Salzkammergut, Austrian Alps
In Austria’s picturesque Salzkammergut region is this stunning self-catering getaway (for 10-16), which has a sun terrace, long views and an orchard – ideal for extended family gatherings.
Rooms: There are six bedrooms in the main house to choose from, one of the top floor bedrooms has an additional child’s bed, there’s also a twin room in the adjacent pool house (ideal for teens), and baby cots can be added.
Best for: All ages.
Family rating: There’s a heated pool, a playroom on the top floor for kids, gardens and a trampoline to enjoy, the lofty pool house is perfect for yoga and has a sauna, plus boat trips on the lake and hiking in the mountains.
8 The Rebello Hotel & Spa, Porto, Portugal
This upscale design hotel comes with stylish restaurants, a spa, a rooftop bar, and superb panoramic views of Porto’s historic centre.
Rooms: The Two-Bedroom Suites and Duplex Suites sleep a family of four; larger families should opt for the Three-Bedroom Duplex Suite. All come with full kitchens and a spacious living area.
Best for: Babies, toddlers and kids.
Family rating: There’s an in-house Little Rebels Club for ages 3-12, which includes a nursery, playroom and cinema (book ahead). There are mini menus for kids; kids aged 3-16 can use the pool for set hours in the morning and afternoon.
9 Berlin Design Apartment, Kreuzberg, Germany
For older kids and teens Berlin is seriously cool. And this bold and vibrant 4-bedroom self-catering apartment (for up to 6 adults + 2 kids) in the buzzy Kreuzberg district will impress everybody.
Rooms: The two bedrooms towards the rear of the apartment are probably best, one is on a mezzanine with a low ceiling. There’s a baby cot to borrow too.
Best for: Babies, older kids and teens.
Family rating: There’s lots of space, playgrounds within easy walking distance, Viktoria Park is opposite and has a splash pool in summer, and the historic sights of Berlin are a short S- and U-Bahn ride away.
10 Vaayu Kula, North Goa, India
On a quiet beach in Goa, you’ll find this laid-back boutique retreat, with a beachside restaurant and a focus on sustainability.
Rooms: All rooms have a daybed for an extra guest and ocean views. For larger families, Mowgli’s Beach House is perfect as it has two bedrooms, a private garden and a full kitchen.
Best for: Kids and teens.
Family rating: The hotel runs its own surf school, with certified instructors, and any child will delight in these gorgeous golden sands. Head to the villages for an insight into local life.
