Directors Nikki and Aidan spent an unforgettable 2-week family break on the stunning island of Tresco, just off the coast of Cornwall, where the skies are huge, the air is fresh and the coastline could easily be mistaken for the Caribbean…
They say it just takes one trip to the Isles of Scilly for you to get hooked. We’ve been going back to Tresco for 10 years now, and each time we marvel at how beautiful it is. As there are no cars on the island, you just bicycle around and you get an amazing sense of freedom. Our daughter Poppy and her friends always have a ball. Best of all, if you’re coming from the UK you don’t need to suffer any long-haul/time-zone hassles.
We flew into St Mary’s airport – transfers from there to Tresco are a doddle by fast jet boat.
We’ll never tire of waking up to the view from Flying Boat Cottages onto our own beach.
On the eastern side of the island, Sea Garden Cottages’ huge picture windows help you make the most of the stunning views.
The pastel-perfect changing rooms at the outdoor pool are very Instagramable.
We enjoyed knocking a few balls about on the tennis courts, which are in an ideal spot sheltered from the wind.
And had fun spotting the red squirrels that now populate the famous Abbey Gardens.
We wandered around the neighbouring island of St Martin’s…
…with its huge striped Daymark.
The kids loved crabbing…
…and following the low-tide walkway between Tresco and Bryher.

Food-wise, Bryher’s Crabshack is one of our favourite haunts…
…and their Eton Mess is hard to beat!
The white-sand beaches are stunning – there’s a beautiful view at every turn.
Our daughter Poppy took time out to contemplate life at the end of England.
