We’re breaking the mould with this month’s interiors focus and featuring just one i-escape property, but it’s a real stunner.
This 1-bedroom penthouse apartment is the work of cutting-edge Dutch brand Droog, which was founded by author and curator Renny Ramakers. It sits at the top of the company’s flagship Amsterdam design emporium, Hotel Droog, which also encompasses fashion and homeware stores, a buzzing café, an art gallery, a library, and even a fairy-tale garden decorated with giant toadstools and flower sculptures.
Dubbed the ‘One and Only Room’, the whitewashed apartment is stuffed full of prototype Droog products. In the bedroom are sustainable linens by Yumeko, a ‘Clothes Hanger’ lamp by Hector Serrano and soft knitted jersey bathrobes by Liset van de Scheer; in the living room, a ‘Read Before You Eat’ table by Marian Bantjes, and a yellow and blue ‘Lounge of Layers’ sofa which doubles as a child’s bed when needed. There’s also a pretty special view out over the city’s gabled rooftops.
Let’s take a quick look around…
