Just steps from Rome’s Trevi Fountain yet surprisingly peaceful, these 5 apartments (sleeping 2-4) are a bohemian home-away-from-home in the Eternal City. Each is packed with wonderfully luxurious touches like wireless Bose speakers, iPads, a kitchenette stocked with Prosecco and chocolates, and even a sauna in the bathroom.
Original features have been restored, contemporary artwork carefully hung and retro-chic furniture artfully chosen to create an individual style for each apartment – we loved them all so much we wanted to spend a night in each!
Rooms: Dressed in a mix of vintage, mid-century and modern pieces, the apartments have open-plan kitchenettes, spacious dining areas and huge bathrooms stocked with Osme toiletries (some even have a sauna!). We stayed in the Grand Apartment and loved the large living room/diner and the sweet little terrace accessed through a hidden wardrobe (like Narnia!). Our other favourite was pretty, pastel-coloured Corner Apartment 5, which has a bird-themed fresco headboard and a Turkish bath.
Food: A market bag of goodies is left outside your door for breakfast each morning – we couldn’t get enough of the freshly baked pastries, and we loved rustling up a feast from the bread, eggs, fruit and juice. The kitchenettes are also stocked with enough basics to put together a simple meal (we had tomato sauce, olive oil, pasta, milk, butter, eggs, yoghurts, biscotti, tea, coffee, seasonings etc). For other groceries we’d highly recommend going to the huge Eataly Roma food emporium near Ostiense station. If you want to eat out, the staff have a whole host of fab recommendations – we opted for Michelin-starred Stazione di Posta (which is run by CasaCau’s owners) and were blown away by the tasting menu.
Author’s tip: The basilica-shaped Santa Maria church in nearby Trastevere is one of the oldest in Rome and has a stunning mosaicked apse. Take time to sit and enjoy the effects of light as it streams through the coloured glass above the entrance.
Press review: “A beautiful house consisting of luxury apartments with a chic boutique feel. Each apartment was individually designed by local interior designer, Nora P, and features beautifully high ceilings – creating a real calming sense of space in an otherwise bustling part of the city filled with tourists and street vendors.”
